PITA Chairman: Heru Implements Real Solutions to Overcome Air Pollution in Jakarta

Pemuda Cinta Tanah Air (PITA) Chairman, Ervan Purwanto, appreciated the concrete efforts of Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono in dealing with air pollution issues in Jakarta.

He has done it seriously and responsibly

"We appreciate the governor's leadership, which has only been eight months, with various real and fundamental efforts to deal with the problem of air pollution, including planting trees, optimizing green open spaces (RTH), using electric vehicles in public transportation, and even increasing vehicle emission tests," he expressed, in his written statement, Friday (6/23).

According to him, the issue of declining Jakarta air quality was not a new thing that the Jakarta Provincial Government. In fact, it has happened since the period long before he assumed the duties of Acting Governor.

He explained he has taken various concrete steps through tightening a number of policies in the transportation sector, namely testing carbon gas emissions, odd-even numbers, and so on.

"He has done it seriously and responsibly. It only remains to see how the political will is supported by all parties, especially policy makers and implementers," he explained.

Aside that, the responsibility for dealing with air pollution lies with every individual and business group that has a significant impact, including the industrial sector and others.

"The key is in shared awareness. When the government issues regulations, the object is whether we as a society feel the need for clean air or not. If necessary, start disciplining yourself, in addition to the law enforcement apparatus must also work," he explained.

Previously, his party was serious about fixing Jakarta's air pollution. He said that he would encourage the realization of the transition to alternative fuel vehicles.

He also acknowledged that the problem of air pollution in Jakarta is a big challenge for the Jakarta Government. In fact, the Jakarta Government would make a lot of improvements.

"Yes, this is indeed a challenge from the Jakarta Government regarding air pollution, so they continue to improve, must add Green Open Space (RTH), we all plant trees," he stated.
